P20 LED Display Enjoys Its Market Share in Mid-East Market

Statium Display is one of the most important applications of LED display. With the booming spot on football matches, LED displays frequently make their appearances on to the statiums.

Recently, we have succeded in applying our P20 LED display to the famous Tepek Stadium in Lodz city, Chechnya Republic, which is the biggest project of LED displays installed in Chechnya up to now. Hereunder are the details:

The first part refers to the square LED board, wihch takes the responsibilty of transforming the live watches. The outdoor Full Color P20 LED Display is made of W10.24m x H5.76m, with 1pc on both sides of the statium. The total area is uo to 117.96 square meters.

The second part refers to the circle LED display around the statium. The Outdoor Full Color P16 Football Stadium LED Display( perimeter) is made of W300m x H1.024m, with 293 cabinets in total and each cabinet size of1024mm x 1024mm. The total area for the circle led display is up to 307.23 square meters.

The sucess of the huge project in Chechnya has founded a solid basis for our LED displays into the Mid-East Market. It also means that the markets of our LED displays have spread all over the world.

When Are LED Bulbs Affordable?

LED is worldwidely appreciated as the eco-friendly and high efficient light source for 21st century. However, the prices of LED lighting products at the very beginning was expensive to touch, which had been regarded as the luxurouis products for the nobles. With the increasinly developed technology on LED lighting efficiency, the prices on LED have been lowed a lot. However, the public still feel LED lighting products expecially the led bulbs are more expensive than the level they could afford to. So when should the LED bulbs be affordable is still under discussion up to now.

Here the LED bulbs are affordable. A lot of global signs have emerged indicating that the price of LED lighting bulbs could soon decline sharply and move closer to a level that mass-market consumers can afford.

A report today in India's The Economic Times says that in that country, "prices of LED lamps and luminaires have almost halved in the past 6-9 months." Lamps – by which the article seems to mean "bulbs" -have declined to “as low as Rs 600 ($13), down from above Rs 1,000 ($22)," it says. Luminaires "now start at Rs 2,000 ($44)," it states.

Meanwhile, the prices for chips has been decreased globally in the past months. As is known, chips is an important element for building led bulbs and lighting products. At the same time, with the overproduction on led chips, the prices shows seriously falling tendency.  Korean manufacturers are all either curtailing expansion plans or slashing prices to clear inventory. All the above mentioned factors result in the fall of prices on chips.

With the growingly decline in prices of chips, the cost price on led bulbs and lighting applications will be greatly lowered. It is foreseen that the era of affordable LED bulbs will come soon.

The Promising Niche Markets for LED Industry in The Next Five Years

It is less disputing that LED will replace traditional light sources in the no so long future. And a series of niche markets are predicted onto the LED lighting industry.

Among the 12 different niche markets where LEDs will lead the future, there are three groups outstanding prominently: colored-light applications, indoor white-light applications, and outdoor white-light applications.

Colored -Light applications are mainly reflected through traffic signals and pedestian crossings, decorative holiday lights, exit signs and electric signage. THe most remarkable should be the various kinds of pop LED displays.

For indoor-white light application, the niche markets have been gradually realized, such as recessed LED downlights, refrigerated display cases, task lights, office undershelf lights and kitchen undercabinet lights, particularly,  the task lights and office lights are attached most importance at the moment.

Regarding the outdoow white light application, street and area lights are taking the pioneering role and will last for a long period. What is most remarkable are the solor powered LED street lights as well as the wind-driven led street lightings in Holland. Besides, step led lights, path led lighting and porch led lights are foressen to boom in the near future.

Tips for LED Makers not to Follow Suit Towards LEDs Backlight Modules

The reports among the LED industry 2nd quarter, 2011 is not encouraging neither. The demand in the LED industry has not been rejuvenating as expected.

The price of high-power LED products for TV backlight and lighting systems continues to fall due to inventory adjustments at downstream firms. As more and more backlight makers enter the LED lighting market, the price of LEDs for backlight modules has fallen around 10%. Meanwhile, the price of high-power LEDs for lighting systems has fallen around 15%.

The phenomenon of following suit towards the LED lighting market leads to the fact that a great amount of LED firms have encountered pressure to lower prices continuously. Quality of products has varied, hence the price drops have fluctuated as well. The price for high-end products continues to fall 5% but the price for low-end high-power LEDs have fallen around 30%.

Demand for LED lighting has been growing continuously, but the large fluctuations in prices will limit revenues. To avoid such kind of mutual competition on prices by suppliers, it is suggested not to go with the flow without any planning or intention.

According to the Industry sources, the growth figure for the third quarter would continue to decrease. But fortunately that the price drops for LED products will be inclined to shrink to an extent. With the time going on, China's national holiday and the year-end holidays in North America are predicted to prompt growth in demand for backligh modules.

Believe or Not: Osram Was Revengely Alleged to Infringe Patents by Samsung LED

Yesterday morning, the South Koren electronics giant, Samsung LED claimed that it filed a lawsuit for patent infringement with the U.S. District Court for Delaware "to seek damages and a permanent injunction barring Osram's infringement", after the complaint filed with the U.S. fair trade commission. 

Osram was alleged to infringe eight patents on core LED techonologies that Saumsung has obtained in the U.S. market. The patented technologies were widely used, ranging from lighting, tvs, mobile phone screens and so on.

The complaints filed originated from an South Korean LED maker, who is affiliated with Samsung Electronics. The main purpose are spotted on to Osrams' TopLED as well as the products they are used. Besides, some other world renowned companies are included in the list of complaint.

Enclounted with the unfriendly complaint, Osram said on June 6 it was suing the Samsung (005930.KS) and LG (066570.KS) group of companies for alleged infringement of patents on light emitting diodes (LED) technology. Indeed, Samsung LED filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Osram Korea and two Korean sales agents of the German company at a Seoul district court at the same time.

Meanwhile, another South Koren top eletrnoics supplier, LG Electronics Inc., joined Samsung LED this month to countersue Osram, after the German firm filed lawsuits against the Korean rivals in the U.S., Germany and Japan, and another against LG in China.

It is reported that Taiwan-based LED packaging house Unity Opto Technology has landed US$10 million worth of orders for LED lighting products from a client in Europe with shipments to begin in the third quarter. The company's total shipments of LED lighting products are expected to top NT$2 billion (US$69.2 million) in 2011.

The figure is so huge that it is interesting to explore the invisible power that drives the great demanding of LED lighting products. The sales from LED lighting products accounted for 30% of total revenues in June and is expected to exceed 30% in July, among which the demand for LED backlight products would be reincreased in August.

Due to Japan's nuclear crisis, many western countries have made declarations to abolish nuclear power plants, which has become a driving power that results in the growing of LED lighting market. Meanwhile, the the lack of electricity supply and increasing electricity price all helped to expand the development of LED lighting.

With the maturity of LED package technology, the light efficiency has been greatly improved. The brightness of the new LED product can reach 550lm and is able to replace a traditional 60W light bulb while conserving up to 75% of energy.

The above mentioned invisible demand drives the led supplier make more efforts on to the research and production of LED lighting products. It is predicted more and more LED lighting products will be used for indoor and office lights. With the increasing demand for LED TVs, the sales of LED backlight modules will improve greatly in the third quarter.

Philips has announced its plans to develop wallpapers containing integrated LEDs. The illuminated wallpapers will be a kind of luminous sound-absorbing textiles that would emit in variety of colors on the basis of the user's requirements. To develop the luminous wallpaper panels, Philips is collaborating with customizable acoustic panels manufacturer Kvadrat Soft Cells, headquarted in Denmark.

The soft Cells acoustic panels are flexible and can be tailored to fit a wide variety of interiors. Panels are mounted on an aluminum frame with a stretching mechanism, allowing the panel to remain an appropriate tension regardless of changes in temperature or humidity.

The Philips' LED illuminated texture wallpapers offers a profound invision for lighting experts and engineers, who would be able to create unusual interiors, suiting the purpose and/or atmosphere of the chosen space.

Though there is no info on the pricing and availablity info up to now, the LED-illuminated glowing wallpapers undoubtedly won't be an economical lighting solution for home decoration.
