Believe or Not: Osram Was Revengely Alleged to Infringe Patents by Samsung LED

Yesterday morning, the South Koren electronics giant, Samsung LED claimed that it filed a lawsuit for patent infringement with the U.S. District Court for Delaware "to seek damages and a permanent injunction barring Osram's infringement", after the complaint filed with the U.S. fair trade commission. 

Osram was alleged to infringe eight patents on core LED techonologies that Saumsung has obtained in the U.S. market. The patented technologies were widely used, ranging from lighting, tvs, mobile phone screens and so on.

The complaints filed originated from an South Korean LED maker, who is affiliated with Samsung Electronics. The main purpose are spotted on to Osrams' TopLED as well as the products they are used. Besides, some other world renowned companies are included in the list of complaint.

Enclounted with the unfriendly complaint, Osram said on June 6 it was suing the Samsung (005930.KS) and LG (066570.KS) group of companies for alleged infringement of patents on light emitting diodes (LED) technology. Indeed, Samsung LED filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Osram Korea and two Korean sales agents of the German company at a Seoul district court at the same time.

Meanwhile, another South Koren top eletrnoics supplier, LG Electronics Inc., joined Samsung LED this month to countersue Osram, after the German firm filed lawsuits against the Korean rivals in the U.S., Germany and Japan, and another against LG in China.
